Saving For Retirement

We all require money once we stop working but pensions do not hold a monopoly on retirement provision. Nowadays, many of us will hold property and other investments that will provide for us. However, whilst some clients may not use a pension plan, all should have a plan for retirement. Our role is to assist you in ensuring that you have sufficient money to maintain your lifestyle in retirement. The important point is to plan and start saving as quickly as possible.

The attractive tax reliefs provided will lead many to consider pensions as part of their retirement planning strategy and information is given elsewhere regarding conventional pensions and other means of retirement savings such as SIPPs, ISAs, VCTs and EIS.

The changes announced in the Budget 2014 provide great freedom in how our pension is paid to us and we can look forward to drawing income at a rate that suits us, without compulsion to buy an annuity. There is choice available to those looking to draw pension benefits but many will need advice in reaching the right decisions for their needs.

In many instances, clients will be burdened with older style pensions that do not offer the retirement flexibility provided by the new legislation or investment choice offered by a more modern arrangement. We specialise in providing advice to those who have already established pension savings but require assistance in reviewing the existing arrangements, managing the underlying investments and making sense of retirement choices.

Choosing between the relative merits of making additional payments to an employer's scheme, a personal pension or making ISA contributions will require research and a degree of informed judgement. There are a bewildering number of pension providers and some of the features of personal pensions such as self-investment, phased retirement and income drawdown can be difficult to grasp without a guiding hand.

We have assisted many clients in reviewing and rationalising their pension benefits and we would love to hear from you now. Please browse for more details of the current options and contact us to discuss your needs now. You can be sure of friendly, independent and unbiased retirement advice from a Chartered Financial Planner. All of our advice is provided on a commission free, fee basis and we have served clients in  Brighton, Hove, Sussex, London, Reading and the South East for over 20 years.
